Communion

Jesus wants us to remember him.
He gave us this meal.

Bread.
To remember that he was real –
A body like ours
That was bruised
And was broken
And that died on a cross.

Wine.
To remember that he had life like us –
Breath in his lungs
And blood in his veins
Blood that flowed out
When he died on a cross.

Jesus wants us to remember him.
He gave us his life.

And as we remember him at this table, sharing this meal, we do so with gratitude.  A meal familiar to so many of us but one that we should come to as if for the first time.  Remembering all that he has done for us and knowing that it is so much more than we could ever deserve. Remembering to thank him today, and every day and asking that his love shown so clearly through the bread and the wine that we share may be reflected, in some small way, to those around us.

Creator and our loving God
We thank you
And we praise you.

You have made us in your image
And have promised
To love us
And to protect us.

You have sent your son
To be our Saviour.
To love us
And to lead us.

You have left us your spirit
To surround us each day.
To love us
And to bring us comfort.

May we know your protection,
Be happy to follow
And feel your comfort
Today, and every day.

Sermon on the Mount III

Like Jesus

You tell us to love another –
Not just the people we choose.
Not just the people who are nice to us,
With them, we’ve nothing to lose.

You tell us to love another –
Even those who we try not to see.
To those who are mean and quite nasty
Like Jesus you ask us to be.

You tell us to love another –
For love is your gift to us all.
Even when life doesn't seem quite so easy
Help me to be true to your call.

Every day

Every day I get to choose
Some things I want to do.
I can do what’s right
Or I can do what’s wrong.
Teach me to look to you

Every day I can start again
My life a fresh, new sheet.
I can do what’s right
Or I can do what’s wrong
With the people that I meet.

Every day I live my life
I want to give to you.
Help me to live
And help me to love
Be like Jesus, in all that I do.

Jesus

Jesus,
Take us.

Jesus,
Hold us.

Jesus,
Change us.

Jesus,
Shape us.

Jesus,
Make us new.

Sometimes

Sometimes I know which way to go
Or just what I should do.
It’s clear to see what’s right, what’s wrong
And how to honour you.

Sometimes it’s not so clear to see,
The way you’d have me go
When I’m not sure, it’s you I need
You are my friend, you’ll know.

Thank you, Jesus that wherever I’ve been,
Wherever I am,
And wherever I go
You are with me.

Thank you, Jesus that whatever I’ve done,
Whatever I’m doing
And whatever I will do
You are with me

Amen.

Be like Jesus in all that you do.
Each person is special
And needs love just like you.
Take time to share Jesus,
In the places you go,
Take time to learn from him and
Use what you know.
Do trust in him fully
Experience his love
Saying thank you to Jesus and his Father above.

Sermon on the Mount II

My dad

My dad, in heaven,
You are holy and special.
May our world become more like yours.
May more and more things be done your way.
Thank you for giving us everything that we need.
Help us to forgive other people when they have done wrong,
Just like you always forgive us.
Help us not to be naughty,
Keep us away from bad people and bad places,
And from doing bad things.
All the world is yours and you can do everything,
Now and always.
Amen.

Conquers all

Different shapes and sizes
Different colours too.
Different backgrounds, different places
But made to be like you.

Peace can be forgotten
Peace gets left behind.
Peace is what you bring to us
And want the world to find.

Love for one another
Love for large and small
Love for every one of us
Love that conquers all.

Father forgive

When we don’t show friendship,
Father forgive.

When we are greedy and want more than we need,
Father forgive.

When we think badly of others,
Father forgive.

When we think that we know better than you,
Father forgive.

He’s there

Mum and dad are worried about work
And I get stressed at school
Mortgage, shopping, holidays -
How will we pay for all?

Mum and dad, so much to do
And I’ve got friends to meet.
Work and gym and friends to see
As well as driving me.

Mum and dad just won’t slow down
They’re always on the go
Each day just goes on flying by
It’s gone before we know.

Mum and dad, please take a breath
And spend some time with me
I need your love and your time
So much you need to see.

Mum and dad please take a breath
And spend some time in prayer
God wants to spend some time with you
For you to know he’s there.

Love one another

Love one another.

What?  Even those unkind to me,
Who say rude words and do bad things?

Yes, love one another.

What? Even those who fight and harm,
And don’t do what they’re told

Yes, love one another.

What? I don’t know how, how is that done?
Please show me what to do.

I need your love
I need you close
I need to know you’re there.
When you’re with me
It can be done –
I’ll show your love and care.

Sermon on the Mount

Be like Jesus in all that you do.
Each person is special
And needs love just like you.
Take time to share Jesus,
In the places you go,
Take time to learn from him and
Use what you know.
Do trust in him fully
Experience his love
Saying thank you to Jesus and his Father above.

You want

You want us to be humble
So that we might know heaven.

You reassure us when we’re unhappy
So we will know your comfort.

You want us to be gentle
So that we will get along.

You encourage us to search for you
As when we find you we will grow.

You want us to forgive others
As you have forgiven us.

You want us to be pure and clean
So that we may be more like you.

You want us work for a peaceful world
So that you can be better seen.

May we be open to listen to you
And to do all that you want us to do.

Amen

Making a difference

Knowing you should make a difference
To what I say
And what I do;
To what I think
And where I go.

Has knowing you made a difference
To what I say
And what I do;
To what I think
And where I go.

From today
May knowing you make a difference
To what I say
And what I do;
To what I think
And where I go.

Help me make a difference.

Your call

You call us as individuals
To be bright shining lights,
Bringing comfort to people
On the darkest of nights.

You call us together
To be a bright shining light,
Leading people towards you
And showing what’s right.

Your call is quite simple
But needs us to hear,
May we feel your presence
And know that you’re near.

Elijah

Your love

Pressure can come
On the young
And the old;
At work,
At school
And even at play.

Worry can come
At any time,
And in many ways;
With friends,
Alone
At night or day.

Sadness can come
And tears can fall.
Problems seem big
When really
They’re small.

Lord Jesus,
You have been under pressure
You have known what it is to worry
You have endured sadness
And tears.

Lord Jesus,
Thank you that you can walk with me
Ease my pressure
Relieve my worries
And share my tears.

Lord Jesus,
When life seems demanding
May I lean on You.

Lord Jesus,
When my worries are weighing me down
May I feel your arms supporting my load.

Lord Jesus
When I am sad and feel low
May I know the comfort of your love.

Help me

Lord help me to
Walk with the weary,
Talk with the lonely,
Share with the needy
And love the unlovely.
Amen

I care

I have a home
And I have a bed.
I always know
That I’ll be fed.

I go to school
And have places to play.
I have what I need
For every day.

I look at the world
And it’s not all the same.
For some, it would seem
It’s all just a game.

They take from the poor
And they add to their wealth.
All that matters to them
Is their personal health.

The world that I live in
Needs to be fair.
May I play my part
And show that I care.

Father God

Father God,
You have made the world
And everything in it.

Father God,
You care for the world
And everything in it.

Your love is large enough
And wide enough
And deep enough
For every situation and
For every single person.

Father God,
You are here for all the world
May we turn to you.

A covenant community

Together

Being together
Can be easy.

Being together
Can be hard.

Being together
Can bring happiness.

Being together
Can bring tears.

Jesus,
You have brought us together
As family.

Jesus,
You have promised
To be together with us
When life seems easy
And when life seems hard.
When we are happy
And when tears are in our eyes.

Thank you, Jesus

Help me

Help me to learn
From the good examples
Of those around me
And to be a good example myself.

Help me to hear
The good words
Of those that love me
And to encourage others with what I say.

Help me to see Jesus
In the way others live
And to show him myself
In the way that I live.

Family

Young and old
And those in between;
We’re all part of your family.

Help us to live together,
Learn together,
Grow together,
And love together.

Thank You

Thank you, Jesus
For those that teach me.

Thank you, Jesus
For those that lead me.

Thank you, Jesus
For those that feed me.

Thank you, Jesus
For those that help me.

Thank you, Jesus
For those that comfort me.

Thank You, Jesus
For those that love me.

Thank you, Jesus
For those around me.

Hug

Sometimes,
When I’m feeling sad
I need a hug.

Sometimes,
When I feel alone
I need a hug.

Sometimes,
When I need a hug
There’s no-one around.

Thank you, Jesus
That wherever I am
And however I feel
I can always feel your arms around me.

Yes

Jesus calls us to walk with him,
Jesus calls us to live like him,
Jesus calls us.

Will we follow?

Jesus shows us what to do,
Jesus shows us where to go,
Jesus shows us.

Will we look?

Jesus asks us to turn to him,
Jesus asks us to learn from him,
Jesus asks us.

Will we answer?

Jesus, I will follow you.
Jesus, I will look to you.
Jesus, I say “yes” to you.

We promise

Jesus, you have promised so much for us.

Today we make our promises to you.

We promise to try and love you more.
We promise to watch out for those around us.
We promise to talk to you.
We promise to tell others about you.

May our lives be a gift of love to you each day.
May we live to please you and bring you joy.
May our lives make you real to those around us.

Jesus, we make our promises to you.
